Ransom Ministries offers hope to women from the redlight district of Chiang Mai, Thailand. Prostitution is often the highest paying job available for young women who have debts or are supporting their family. Because of this many women choose to stay even when offered a way out of this lifestyle. Our goal is to show them who Jesus is by sharing His love and giving hope for freedom. We want these women to discover their value in Christ and show them true godly love in their lust-filled world. Currently, we are doing this by teaching English and Bible classes at Sunshine House, establishing relationships with women, and prayer-walking several times a week. The Bible class gives us a chance to teach about God's purpose for life and the freedom Jesus gives.
We meet to listen to the women and learn more about their lives. This opens doors to share our testimony with them and to introduce them to Jesus. Our prayer walking provides the prayer support foundation that is essential to all ministry, especially this one. We are in a battle for women who are bound by Satan and forced to believe that they can never be virtuous. As we walk past the bars we pray for God's power and light to open their eyes and give them hope.
We are currently learning about ministry opportunities in Chiang Mai. We plan to start a home where women can find a safe place to hear about God and His deliverance from the pain of their past. We also hope to provide alternative occupations for them. Training programs would be developed for women and girls in the rural villages to prevent them from having to sell themselves into prostitution. There are many opportunities to teach English as a way to establish relationships. Our long-term goal is to start rescue centers in other parts of Asia.
